Symphonic Choir picture


 

Symphonic Choir -- Grades 10-12


Symphonic Choir is a very select choir and is Darby High School’s most advanced choral group. Ability to read or follow music is assumed on the part of the student. Members are selected by auditioning interested students. During the year, the choir performs a variety of music ranging from classical to contemporary genres. The course meets 5 periods per week – permission from the instructor is required. A retreat is planned, OMEA state choir contest and other concerts with other schools will be offered each year. Please note that there is an annual fee involved which covers uniform and participation fees for each member. Uniform fees vary between groups. These fees are not covered by school fees that are paid at the beginning of each year.

Concert Choir -- Grades 9-12

 Open to students who have passed the initial audition stage and posses the skills required learning and performing intermediate choral literature. This choir will perform at various functions throughout the year – OMEA choir contest invitations etc. This select will focus on good singing skills and proper vocal production. Please note that there is an annual fee which covers uniform and participation fees for each choir. Uniform fees vary between groups. These fees are not covered by school fees that are paid at the beginning of each year.

 


 


Womens Chorale picture


 

Women’s Chorale -- Grades 9-12


This highly select group of students will perform intermediate to advanced choral literature. The ability to read and grasp intermediate vocal technique is assumed. Admission is by audition only. Members are required to rent the appropriate formal wear and a small purchase of business shoes will be required. Women’s Chorale will participate in district and state contest, invitational’s and festivals throughout the year.

This small select ensemble is made up of 16-18 young men who enjoy singing various types of literature written for men’s voices. They rehearse after school and auditions are required. They are also invited to sing throughout our community as well as a crowd pleaser at all school concerts.

This small select ensemble is made up of 16-18 young ladies who enjoy singing various types of literature written for female voices. They also rehearse after school and auditions are required.

The Hilliard Darby Men's Chorus is made up of male students from Symphonic Choir and Concert Choir. In the past, this group performs at several concerts at school, plus off campus concerts with Ohio State University, Bowling Green and Kent State. The group also performs at OMEA each year at at Class AA/A level.
